How would you describe your personal style?
My style is eclectic. I like to switch it up very regularly, but right now, my style is classic menswear with a modern slant.
What are your 3 style essentials that you think every person needs in their wardrobe?
- I live in jeans, so that would be the first thing. A great pair of jeans, any fit that makes you feel your best, but something that can be worn over and over.
- A great fitting suit, that can be broken up and worn separately, for multiple looks. I would suggest a solid neutral for this.
- A leather/vegan leather jacket. It’s that one go-to that can always be used to add a touch of cool to a look. I would suggest a classic like a Moto jacket.
What do you like most about Phix?
I really like that the pieces feel almost vintage, leaning 70’s, but with modern touches. I also like that it’s a British brand.
Best gig you've ever been to?
Billie Eilish. I love her music and got to see her in concert last year, and had one of the best nights ever. She sang every one of my favorite songs of hers. I was overjoyed.
One piece of clothing you can’t live without?
Over the last few years, it’s a great boot, with a slight heel. It just makes me stand tall and makes me feel dressy without feeling too dressed up.
What's your proudest clothing purchase?
Ooh, this one’s a tough one. Most recently, maybe 4 years ago, it was a vintage Alaia jacket, from the 80’s, that I found at a vintage store in LA. I’ve only worn it a couple of times, but even just having it in my closet brings me joy.
Is there anything you regret wearing? Why?
Oh gosh, so many things. For my 21st Birthday, 19 years ago, I wore a head to toe Von Dutch look. That’s probably the one I regret the most. And I mostly regret it because it was so not me. I don’t know who I was trying to be, but whoever it was, it was so far removed from my style.
We're really inspired by music history at PHIX. What is a song you can listen to on repeat?
There are a few that I can listen to on repeat, and have listened to for SO many years now:
Lauryn Hill: Ex Factor
Alt J: Tesselate
Roisin Murphy: Over Powered
Billie Eilish: Everything I wanted
Adele: Someone Like You
Who has inspired your style the most?/Style icon?
I try not to imitate the style of other celebrities, so the people I’m most inspired by are people I pass on my travels. I’m most inspired by the style I see in Tokyo. It’s never too belabored, but the proportions are unique and interesting. I love it.
