Phix meets: tom sadler

I DON’T THINK THERE’S ANOTHER FASHION BRAND THAT IS SO THOROUGHLY CONNECTED WITH MUSIC, IT PLAYS HOMAGE BEAUTIFULLY TO ROCK AND ROLL BUT IS STILL FRESH AND DIFFERENT.

PHIX Meets Tom Sadler: You may recognise Tom, as he has worked with Phix Clothing for nearly a decade modelling our exclusive product range. He joins us to discuss eclectic fashion, footwear essentials, and the music he has on repeat.

How would you describe your personal style?

Honestly all over the place, eclectic might be a better way of putting it. Much like my music taste it changes based on my mood that day and whatever person, scene, thing ect. has inspired me.

What are your 3 style essentials that you think every person needs in their wardrobe?

Functional shoes, boots, trainers that go with the rest of your wardrobe is a must, and I think if there’s any part of your outfits you should spend some decent money on, it’s shoes. Someone told me once “You spend half of your life on your feet and the other half on your back so buy good shoes and a good mattress”. I think they should factor in chairs but that’s besides the point.
A pair of jeans that you can wear over and over. I spend weeks in the same pair it’s almost like a seasonal rotation for me
Finally accessories, a few nice rings, a chain and a nice pair of sunnies can really transform an otherwise basic outfit and make a statement. Signature jewellery in particular can really add personality to an outfit, letting others see your individuality.

What do you like most about Phix?

I don’t think there’s another fashion brand that is so thoroughly connected with music, it plays homage beautifully to rock and roll but is still fresh and different. I’ve been working with Phix for almost a decade and it’s been amazing to see it’s evolution, it’s changed a lot but the roots in music have always been consistent which I love about it.

Best gig you’ve ever been to?

The most memorable was definitely death grips 2018 at Albert hall, very interesting crowd. Beach house at Paredes de coura festival was also great, probably the most emotional, very different to the former haha

One piece of clothing you can’t live without?

My vintage bomber jacket, wear it almost everyday. Would I die without it? No, but I’d be very sad. Been wearing it since 2018 so we’ve been through a lot together.

What’s your proudest clothing purchase?

Authentic Dior trench coat for £15! I shamelessly love bargains

Is there anything you regret wearing? Why?

Many, many things. The 2010s were a pretty terrible decade for fashion and I only made it worse hahaha

We’re really inspired by music history at PHIX. What is a song you can listen to on repeat?

I couldn’t say just one, there’s a lot of songs I’ve been listening to over and over again for years now.
Gun - Gil Scott Heron
Holiday in Cambodia - Dead Kennedys
Wichita Lineman - Glenn Campbell
Freak Scene - Dinosaur Jr
Black Milk - Massive Attack
Ratchet - Block party
Sunshower - Dr Buzzard’s OSB
…songs I listened to today that I’ve heard countless times over

Who has inspired your style the most?/Style icon?

No one specific, it’s a mixed bag and a lot of the times the icons are fictional. I’m a huge film nerd and watching something stylish can make me want to present myself completely differently.
